 Chapter I. Iced lemonade.

Travelling with his parents was definitely an experience he wasn't fond of. It was always the same, dull. The same music playing on and on, some arguments about which road to take (even when they always chose the usual) or the same roadside bars... He'd surely spend all his time on the phone or watching a random film on his old CD player. Regardless, some things were unavoidable. They couldn't just skip his grandmother's birthday, could they? She was already in her late 70s, and family traditions were hard to miss. Also, it was kind of like going to a resort, but private. She lived in a villa, in a small city. It was quite big, to be honest. It had a big house with some orchards and a huge pool. He used to love playing hide and seek with his cousins, but he outgrew that long ago. At least, he could lay to rest and swim until he couldn't feel his legs and had a great tan. Also, his grandma always gave all the grandkids some bucks, and he had wanted to save for a new PC and a camera to stream for ages.

After some hours, the endless road came to an end, and so did his parents' bickering. The small town looked like he remembered. The small buildings piled up around a hill and surrounded by nothing but trees. The family’s house was located outside, on one of the valleys between mountains. He and the other kids usually went to catch bugs around the meadow and took a detour to buy some candies on the grocery store. The car made their way across unpaved paths until they reached the metallic doors of the villa. The times when the other came to greet him were long gone. Now, just the older woman and his eldest uncle, Tom, were there.

“My! How much you’ve grown, Mike?”, she exclaimed as she approached to cup his cheek affectionately.
“Nice to see you, nana”, he mumbled, busy trying not to trip with his suitcase.
“Let your uncle help you go to your room. Almost everyone is on the living room. I made lemonade, you know?”, the elder chuckled and tapped his son’s back to coax him to help his nephew and sister-in-law.

Without saying anything else, she walked with trembling steps to greet Michael’s father. As his youngest child, she adored him, but she always had a sweet spot for her daughter-in-law as well. Tom shook his head and ruffled the boy’s hair.

“Let’s get you settled in. I’m sure you want to catch up with everyone”.

He was going to sleep in the same room as always. It was the tiniest, but it was cosy, and he didn’t spend much time there anyway. His uncle left him to wander on his own. At 20, the house was already familiar and he knew every nook. He decided to unpack all the basics and freshen up. After so much time on a car, he needed a quick shower to feel human again. Then, he walked to the main building, where he found everyone lounging and chatting. The youngest kids, his cousin’s children, were busy with their consoles and his aunts and uncles were talking about some boring stuff he didn’t care about with his eldest female cousin, Marie. At least, he had a couple of cousins around his age, so he didn’t feel so alone.

“Hey, man. I didn’t think we’d see you this time”, his cousin Elliot raised his gaze from the phone as his twin sister, Lilly, switched channels on the TV.
“I couldn’t miss it, you know that”, Michael responded as he sat beside him and poured himself some lemonade calmly.
“Also true. Your old man would be fuming if you did”, he laughed.
“So… who’s left to arrive?”
“Well, Rose isn’t here yet”. Lilly leaned backwards against the couch and took a sip from her glass. “Oh, and aunt Diane is coming this year too.”
“Really?”

She nodded happily and crossed her legs without a care on top of the coffee table. That was certainly a surprise. She was a busy woman and lived abroad. It was almost impossible for her to visit so they could just see her briefly on video call one in a blue moon. As far as he remembered from his childhood, she was a sweet chubby woman, with a bright smile and she always brought them candies. That was when he was around ten, and everything else was blurred. She hadn’t married, but she adopted Rose when she was around eight. Her job was demanding, but she was still their grandfather’s pride and joy ever since childhood. Even if she couldn’t visit much, she always made sure her daughter had a good relationship with all of them. Michael didn’t pay much attention to what his twin cousins said, too busy wondering how much she would have changed.

“Hey, let’s go to the pool for a while. It’s too hot today”, Elliot complained and left the empty glass on the table.

Michael couldn’t deny how much he agreed with that statement. Even after having had a shower just a short while ago, he was already sweating again. The evening was peaceful. They played some card games and swam there until their toes were wrinkled, and the kids started disturbing them. They decided to switch their location to the front yard, under the sunshade, as they drank another glass of lemonade. It wasn’t until the sun started to hide behind the hills that the front door opened again. It was a rented car, black and quite new. Despite the curiosity, the three of them tried to focus on their chit-chat. However, Michael’s brain short-circuited when he saw Diane leaving the car.

She had changed, ten years was a long time, after all. Yet she seemed to wear it like a jewel. She was still on the curvy side, her hair was longer, but she had tied it. She had also changed her style. Not only that, but she wore feminine and delicate clothes, flowy and that seemed tailored to fit her body perfectly. As she approached, Michael noticed that she had the same bright smile he remembered. He hadn’t realised she was greeting them until she leaned forward to kiss their cheeks. Somehow, he couldn’t bring himself to look away, and the words had died down in his throat. She looked breathtaking. He couldn’t understand how she could bring forward that reaction on him.

“Hello. It’s been so long. I missed you all terribly”, Diane admitted with velvety tone, her big eyes softening until the corners wrinkled slightly, “I’m afraid I packed my gifts on the bottom of my luggage. I won’t be able to give them to you until tomorrow.”
“Don’t worry. It’s fine. We’re glad you managed to join us this time”, Lilly giggled as she stood up to link arms with Rose.
“Me too. It felt lonely not seeing you all in a decade.” A scoff left her lips and she started rummaging on her pockets. “Do you fancy a candy? That’s all I have around”
“That’s fine, don’t worry.”

The older woman laughed, amused, as she grabbed a handful of sweets wrapped in colourful papers. She left them on the table and kissed her niece and nephews’ foreheads once more. They left, but Michael’s eyes followed her as if he had just met her. She couldn’t deny it, she was the hottest woman she had seen. In college, he had had some flings, but he had always felt drawn by older women like his maths teacher. But his aunt? That was certainly unexpected, and he had to slap himself mentally. She looked so elegant, so confident and gentle at the same time… He felt his breath hitch when his mind wandered to how her cleavage looked, the way her hips seemed to flow like rivers. He grabbed a candy, trying to avoid those visions, but he found it useless. His mind bounced back to his aunt. It was as sweet as her perfume. He embraced a cushion and closed his eyes, trying to cover his hardening cock from view. If he had to fight those feelings during the whole summer, it would be a torture.
